This image is one taken in the wetland nature reserve in Cardiff Bay. I wanted to exaggerate the stark nature of the way that man has encroached on the natural environment of the wildlife there. I decided to use the channel mixer ( found under the adjustments menu in Photoshop) to do this. This way I could tick the "Monochrome" box but still have control over the way the colours were changed to black and white and would have greater control over contrast and so on. This is achieved by sliding the red, green and blue controls to get the effect I wanted ( after ensuring "preview" was ticked !)

Once I had got the balance I wanted I selected the whole image and used the "stroke" option under the edit menu. I set this to add a black stroke of 2 pixels. This gave me a border. Then I added a layer style of "drop shadow" from the layers menu.
